Town Hall Meeting

First, a personal note: I will be gone and will miss next month’s meeting and that’s a shame because I really enjoy these meetings. All the news about our park, all the exciting things that are happening in our park, all the wonderful ways our staff (paid and volunteer) and committees are working towards making Sunscape the best place in Arizona to call home – all this and more I learn at the Town Hall Meetings. Sure wish you all could attend but even more I wish someone would drop a note to Dick here about the April Meeting so he can get it on the website and I won’t feel so left out. Anyone like to volunteer? – Billie

From our manager:  Jim asked us all to please put the pool umbrellas and awnings down when we leave the pool area. The wind has a tendency to blow them away and we don’t want to find them in Oz. Our hot tub is drained once a month and both pool and hot tub exceed all county and even federal health codes.

Maintenance is working on the water main valves and water may be shut of for short periods of time. Also, many of the stand pipes are wearing out and are slowly being replaced.

Another reminder, please keep dogs out of the trash area. Someone suggested that we put a couple of hooks on the outside of the wall so people can leave dogs there while they deposit their trash – good idea, it will be done.

Jim’s new golf cart will go 45 mph. So he is going to go after speeders. Best way not to get caught is to SLOW DOWN – remember 10 mph is our limit.

Remember that the Welcome Center Staff are not secretaries. Please do not ask them to do your work for you. Also we have been having trouble with the copy machine; it is suppose to be fixed this week.

Best buy in the park – Vera’s lunches! For only $3.00 you get a bowl of home made soup and a great sandwich. See you at the Club House for lunch on Tuesday!

Wayne Kissick – Architecture Rules Review Committee: Committee has been working hard mostly trying to clean up the wording so we will not have trouble interpreted rules and regulations. They would like your input and meet in the TV area every Wednesday morning.

Glen Kissick – Park Party: We have a whole week of exciting, interesting and enjoyable activities planned. We still need a few volunteers for the party. And it isn’t too soon to start planning the 2010 Park Party, so we need a group of folks to get together and start the ball rolling for this!!

Judy Conley – Activity Committee: Activity Committee meets every other Wednesday at 1:00 pm. Some of our members are resigning and we need some new members for next season. Please, come to our meetings just to listen or to maybe join us or even to bring your great ideas to share with us.

Alicia – Activity Director: Alicia gave us a brief report on the success of both the Valentine Dinner and the Mardi Gras Ball (thanks to Mary D. for the food and Charlene T. for decorations). The Laughlin Trip may have to be cancelled because not enough people signed up.

Alicia then gave us a brief run down of all the events that will take place the week of our Park Party. It is sure going to be a wonderful week!

Dale S. – Safety Committee: Safety Committee also needs some members willing to serve in the 2010-11 season. Safety meets the first Wednesday of each month. Please stop at stop signs and obey all traffic rules even if you are in a golf cart, riding your bike or walking. And use a flashlight or wear colors that show up in the dark if you are out at night.

When you get ready to leave for the season, try to make it look like your place is still occupied. Don’t cover the windows with foil or put a chain across your driveway – this really advertises that the house is unoccupied and the bad guys will surely notice it.

Remember that the Neighbor Watch Meeting is the first Tuesday of each month at 2:00 pm. Try to attend, we learn lots of ways to stay safe.

Dale S. – Maintenance (same person-different hat) Weed season is upon us, made sure your lot is weed free. Maintenance is having trouble with the septic tanks, looks like most of the problem is being caused by SOAP POWDER being used instead of liquid soap.

If you see anything that needs attention just see Jim or email maintenance at
                              maintenance@sunscapervresort.com

Vera – Kitchen: We made over 80 sandwiches last Tuesday. Wow, lots of folks have found out how great our lunches are! Remember to sign up for Banana Splits the last Sunday of the month.

Ron Stockall – Medical Committee: We have done nothing for 2 months! Wonderful – that means no one was sick or injured and needed help! The Health Fair was a huge success and all the vendors want to come back again next season, thanks Mary Ann.

Avril – Welcome Center: Remember to check out before you leave for the season.

Tom – Mail: We need mailing labels to forward your mail, we’ll make them for you – cost is $1.00 for 30 labels. Also, remember to notify your home post office that you are returning so mail will stop coming to Sunscape.

Sonny S. – Ambassadors: February had only 28 days and ambassadors had 23 visits, almost one a day. The cost of the packet we give to new visitors is about $1.32. Next season Norah Sostrom will take over as chairman.

Mike M. – Architecture Committee: Our last meeting will be the last Thursday in April so if you have projects you would like to do this summer; get the plans in before the deadline!
