Town Hall Meeting

9:00 am November 4, 2008

in the Community Center

By Billie Hering

Manager Jim reported:
We are still having trouble with our septic tanks. Please be careful about what you put down your drains. Wire ties, hose washers, chair bottoms, pumpkin seeds, etc. etc. really clog up our pipes. Also cactus item do not burn. Please put these in the trash barrels and not in the burn trailer and be very careful to get all the cactus trimmings into the trash, cactus thorns are damaging tires.
The areas outside the park are also privately owned and not picking up after your dogs is not only terribly unsanitary but is disrespectful to our neighbor property owners. Bob Eaton cleaned up and buried dog poo that was outside the park and we thank him for doing that – but if we looked after our own pets no one would have to do that.
The water pipes are plugging up with lime (wonderful dessert water) and the board will have to decide what we are to do about this.
The sheriff is here! Sheriffs will mostly be using our office Thursday through Sundays and it is comforting to have them here.
Medical Team: Mary Ann Fender
We may have to abolish medical equipment for check out. Would anyone like to undertake the task of checking the equipment in and out and also servicing it?
The tentative date for the Health Fair is February 18, 2009.
We need volunteers for our Medical Team and for our Fire Team and we need them now. Most of the volunteers have been on the teams since their inception and we need some new people with their new ideas and stamina. Neither Medical or Fire requires much time but without volunteers we will lose these wonderful services.
Welcome Center: Avril Cox
Please remember to wear your name tags. Please check in to the Welcome Center when you return to the park (also remember to check out when you leave the park for an extended period).
The Welcome Center would like a few volunteers to work a few hours a week making copies, answering questions, etc.
Kitchen: Vera Glaze
Lunches will begin on December 3rd (served from 11:00 to 1:00) and will be soup and sandwich for $3.00.
Thanksgiving Dinner: Kitchen will prepare turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and rolls. Bring table service and a side dish to share. Cost will be $3.00
George Trusdale would like a few people to attend and help with the ice cream parties at the Home of Hope and the 2nd Saturday of each month.
Veterans Day Parade and Celebration
The parade is on Saturday at 9:30 am. It will leave from 1st and Casa Grande Avenue (more info about parade route available at the Club House) Our float will have its trial run through Sunscape at about 4:00 pm on Friday.
Tuesday, November 11th, Dale will present the Veteran's Day Program at the American Legion Hall in Coolidge. Before the program join the crowd and enjoy some old fashion Army SOS for breakfast.
Activities - Alicia
At 2:00 pm on Veteran's Day we can all enjoy some dessert and coffee in the Club House and Sunscape vets can have pictures taken.
Relay for Life – Sunscape put 28 survivors on the track and for 3 years in a row we were Number One. We raised $1451.00 to fight cancer. Hurray!!
SRP: Salt River Project
We had three people from the project speak to us about the project, Karen Smith, Janeen Rohovit, and Jason Dudley. They gave a good presentation and answered everyone’s questions. Questions can be directed to SRP’s Public Involvement Office at 800-380-6123. For up-to-date information about SRP’s Pinal Energy Projects visit
