Neighborhood Watch Meeting

November 4th. 2008 at the CC

Up to 50 people attended this meeting.  Jack provided some meeting reading material. Read it here.

Jack Cox read a letter from the Sheriff’s office thanking Sunscape for making office space available for sheriff’s for deputies to use.  There are no phones in this office and none are planned.  All deputies are dispatched from

Florence, Az.  After taking a few questions from those attending Jack introduced Corporal Phelps.

Corporal Phelps recommended patrols through the park at night.  He also advised that people in the park use full time lighting around personal dwellings.  Motion detector lighting makes it too easy for potential burglars to remove the light bulb [not too hot to touch].

If a crime is in progress, [fights, bodily injury, car accident] call 911.
If a crime occurred in the past [theft], call 520.866.5111, 5112

If you see someone committing a crime report the following:
          How many?
Look over the suspect from head to toe noting features, characteristics.
Description of vehicle, if present, [make, model, color, year, time observed].

Pinal County uses 2 deputies to patrol 900 square miles in our area.

Burglaries are usually typically committed between 8:00 am and 2 pm when people are at work.  Items they look for typically [but not limited to] are jewelry, coin collections, and drugs they can sell on the street.  Be careful about having keys to neighbor’s homes left in your unoccupied houses over the summer.  Burglars will make use of them.  Corporal Phelps suggested storing these keys in an office safe.  Jack Cox said a previous attempt to do this was not well supported, but may give it another try.

Park members can send questions to or request information from Corporal Phelps by email.  Sent email to him here
