SUNSCAPE RV RESORT
Medical Committee Meeting
October
29, 2008
Pat Gernon managed the Response Team during the summer months and did a great job; many thanks to her for this. There were 6 incidents with 3 of them written as reports. The others were handled informally by one or two individuals.
The Medical Committee met in the Conference Room at 9:00 am.
Attending were Ron Anderson, Joyce Bingenheimer, Howard Caires, Mary Ann Fender, Duane Fisher, Bruce Garman, Pat Gernon, Isobel Gordon, Kay Hankes, Dennis Harvey, Lorna Hillery, Betty Livingston, Dale Schoeneberger, Ron Stockall, Manager Jim Mashek, Board Members Neal Wehmer and Wayne Scramstead. G.H. Sublett attended and joined the Response Team.Pagers have been operating without problems. Supplies in the Medical Cart and all the First Aid stations throughout the park will be checked and restocked. Pat Gernon volunteered to check these areas.
Monthly training sessions will take place directly following the meeting each month, the last Wednesday of each month. November will be a review of First Aid.
Members were asked what they thought the Response Team would be doing in the future and recruiting new members. Mary Ann and Isobel announced that this will be their last year. (The Team has had many of the same members since the earliest days of formation.) Ron Stockall suggested having a table at the Manager’s Meeting to recruit new members and offered to man that project. It is hoped that new members would come on soon so they could respond with our existing members during this season. G.H. Sublett joined and will be a first responder medical person.
There will be a cleanout of the overstocked medical equipment. The level will be brought down to only 2 wheelchairs, a few crutches and very few other items. The surplus items will be disposed of according to the Property Committee’s guidelines.Future checkouts will be for Sunscape residents only and not to include Wildhorse residents even if they own a lot in this park. Mary Ann resigned as the contact and is asking for a replacement to handle these items.
It was discussed and decided that the Medical Team would participate in the Health Fair anticipated in February. The date is to be set up by the Activity Director.
The meeting concluded at 10:05 am.
Respectfully submitted,
Mary Ann Fender, Medical Committee Chairman
