SUNSCAPE ESTATES RV PARK CO-OP ANNUAL MEETING
Tuesday, February 12, 2008
Unofficial Minutes
The meeting was held at the Pinal County Fairgrounds in Casa Grande, Arizona.Opening prayer was by G.H. Sublett and Pledge of Allegiance followed, after a flag was produced by Dale Schoeneberger. Gene Wallace reminded people that the reason we had to have the annual meeting at the fairgrounds was because our own buildings do not hold enough people and the fire department could shut down any building that we overcrowd. The meeting was called to order at 9:05 a.m. by Board President Gene Wallace. Board Member Mary Anne Brunner took the roll call: Gene Wallace, Herb Ganske, Hugh Warner, Ken Macomber, Sam Samler, and Mary Anne Brunner. All board members present.President Wallace said that since Carol Hanley, spokesman for our ballot counting committee, is losing her voice, we thought we would let her go ahead now and give her report so she can go home. They have a couple of other folks here, if there's any questions later down the line. Election of two new board members for three years: Wayne Scramstad had 231 votes, Jean Aili had 197, Ken Macomber had 152. The rest of the votes were to the other people, and they will be posted on the board. For the one-year term, Neal Wehmer had 301 so he is the winner of the one-year term. Nancy Loveland had the rest of the votes. All of the twenty changes in the bylaws passed. Most of them passed unanimously, except for those who voted "no" on everything! There were two articles though, Article 7 in Section 5 that did command 20 "no" votes, and Article 8 having to do with dues and assessments with 15 "no" votes, so you might want to consider that these people did vote against it. The ballot submitted to change the bylaws, submitted by the members by petition, the first article passed 361 to 71, the second article passed 350 to 82. That had to do with the percentage of people who wanted to change the rules. The park party funds--that passed 381 to 51, so the park party funds can be put toward the Welcome Center. As far as special assessments, the cement lost--there were 278 "nos" and 118 "yes." To replace the tractor passed, 280 to 116. The Welcome Center furniture passed 257 to 134. On the back of that ballot was another ballot that a lot of people did not turn over and vote on, however, since we work on the simple majority, it did pass--214 to 102--but there were 78 blank ballots the people did not turn over and vote on. But, even if they had all voted "no" it still would have passed by the simple majority. It had to do with giving the Board the right to first refusal when there is a unit for sale. All together there were 432 ballots cast out of a possible 489. So we had an 88% return on our voting which I think is pretty good. Mr. President I move that the secretary tally these counts and the ballots be held for 30 days and then destroyed. The board agreed. Ken Macomber made motion that ballots be kept for 30 days and then destroyed, seconded by Bob Erickson, motion passed. Carol Hanley asked her committee to stand as they had worked so hard. Carol and her committee were given a great deal of thanks and applause.New board members were invited to join the sitting board members, which they did.Hugh Warner made motion to accept last year's annual meeting minutes as posted, Dick Winkler seconded and motion was passed. Mary Anne Brunner gave Treasurer's Report. We have had a busy year. We've had a few changes in bookkeepers this year and want to thank Fran, he's done a wonderful job, he's come a long way. I think we're on the right track. We're getting there. We tried to improve the profit and loss so it would be easier for all the members to understand. We kind of failed on that. Still trying to fine tune it to get the line items out there that are what people want to see. Had an approximate carry over of $19,939. The actual figures we won't know until the March 11th board meeting, which we will get from the Finance Committee--the final carry over. On the Maintenance Building we had a balance of $5,517.83 which was left and we put it back into the Capitol Improvement Fund. We've got a beautiful building; quite an improvement from our old little thing we had. We need to realize that we've done a lot of stuff in the park this past year. We've done a lot of painting, sunshades, awnings on the buildings, which should help cut back on the utility bills, summer and winter. We've also done many repairs and replacements around the park. We've spent $28,666.35 on the Welcome Center. We still have a balance left of $17,740.06 in the Park Improvement Fund. Our Contingency Fund has $60,098.91. The Capitol Improvement Fund has a total now of $93,285.22, which includes the deposit of the left over sewer money we had from last year, which was $48,400. We spent $5,000 for the utility trailer, which will save a lot of money in the long run because it's already saved a lot of roll off and trash fees. We've been using that little trailer quite a bit! At the end of the year, we had a total in the bank of $204,464.93. Fran checked on the scrap metal so we could let Damon know, and you, we had $1,630.15 in scrap metal that he had collected for us last year. His little project has turned into quite some money, even though it's a little messy at times for him! Mary Sorenson made motion to accept Mary Anne Brunner's report. Seconded by, Virgil Rothra. Motion passed. Gene Wallace talked about all the volunteers that make our park what it is, and all the thanks that are owed to them. There was much applause.Gene Wallace announced that we would now hear from the Standing Committees:Architectural Committee: Mike Moore, chairman of the Architectural Committee, lot 226. Mike introduced the members of the committee, all volunteers--Marion Bowen, Don Livingston, Lloyd Patterson, Mick Gigoux, Al Schaffner, Jim Bergmann and Ken Macomber who went to the Board in the middle of the year. They were given a round of applause. They spent countless hours working in meetings and with those of you doing improvements and planning to do improvements. Thanks went out also to their spouses for all the hours that they were out of the house. Mike said he had to single out Lloyd Patterson, moving on to a bigger house. He put in many years and countless hours. In 2007 the committee issued 115 new permits, including 15 park models, 7 room additions, 35 sheds, and a whole lot of other improvements. In addition we have completed 45 lot inspections between October and the end of 2007. We revised all the forms associated with the permit process, and we streamlined the meeting process to hopefully better serve you. As we go forward, we really want your suggestions as to how we can do it even better. We are seven people, but there are a whole lot more people in this park, and we would like your help. My thanks go to all of you. We appreciate your cooperation and your help with all the things necessary to obtain a permit and to build your improvements within the rules. We really are here to help you guys. We've had a pretty good year and looking forward to a good year next year. I think 2008 can be better than ever before for all of us in all the things we do. Motion by Jim Grimes to accept Mike's report. Seconded by Bob Angel. Motion passed.Finance Committee Report given by Mary Anne Brunner on behalf of Kathy Gordon, chair. Kathy asked that all who helped with the budget be thanked. Mary Anne said Vee Lambert was home and it was hoped she would be feeling better soon. Thanks to Don Frank for his research on zero balance and for his other projects, Roger Mahoney, Larry Eginoire, our project committee manager, Mary Ann Fender for medical, Mike Moore, architectural committee, Ray Fassbender, safety and security committee, Howard Caires, property committee, Fran Bolm, bookkeeper, and Jim Mashek, our manager. Kathy also wanted to thank the Board for supporting the budget-- Gene Curry, Gene Wallace, Hugh Warner, Herb Ganske, Ken Macomber, and Mary Anne Brunner, liaison. The final actual figures will be out in March. Motion to accept the Finance Committe Report made by Mary Sorenson, seconded by Linnea Bolm. Motion passed.Property Committee Report given by Howard Caires, chairman, lot 399. Howard thanked the Board for its support and Ray Walker and his wife, Sherry. Took it over and did the best we could identifying all our items in the park. All we have left is the new Welcome Center and the Clubhouse. Next year it will be a lot easier to identify what we have in property. Some of it is not on our sheets and it had to be done for the Board and for insurance purposes. Motion to accept Howard's report made by Avril Cox and seconded by Nancy Loveland. Motion passed.Safety Committee Report given by Ray Fassbender, chairman. My committee includes Joyce Bingenheimer, hospitalized in Tucson, George Bush, absent due to medical problems, Margaret Erickson, C.H. Grubb, Wayne Scramstad and Dale Schoeneberger, vice-chair, Ray Fassbender, chair, and Gene Wallace, liaison. A special thank you to Gene Wallace who has been our liaison the last few years. We appreciate your insight, your common sense, and we do really enjoy having you at our meetings. To highlight a few of the improvements we have made the last year: The painting in the streets--divider lines, stop signs, especially at the 4 corners of the park where we had a few very close calls. We also have safety lighting around the Clubhouse and the Community Center, which is very helpful during the dark hours. We always remind you of the 10 mph speed limit in the park and this year we enlisted the help of the Welcome Center--they mention it to anybody who is obviously a non-resident as they enter the park. Corrected a number of unsafe conditions in the Clubhouse kitchen. We had the Sunscape firefighters go around and inspect fire extinguishers and smoke alarms to make sure they were in working order. We have been and continue to promote reflective tape on bicycles, golf carts, and clothing, especially during the dark hours. Recently completed by Dale Shoeneberger are park maps with emergency phone numbers and building location numbers at all the main doors of all the public buildings. We have only the Welcome Center left and that will be done when it is completed. Please approach the main gate with patience! As you click your remote control, or robot card, you have thirty seconds in which to reflect on how good retirement really is, or you have thirty seconds and you can reflect how life at Sunscape is so economical compared to some of these other parks around here, or you have thirty seconds to relax, take a deep breath and then proceed through the gate slowly and throughout the park, observing the 10 mph speed limit. I'll stop there! One more thing to mention about the main gate. If you are having friends, relatives, or have contracted with any vendors, especially if they show up at the gate during non-manned hours, please come up to the gate. Let them in. Be responsible for them. You are apparently the only one that knows they are supposed to be there! It helps to remove grid lock at the gate. Remember, we do have safety signs galore throughout the park. Please try to observe them. I know it's tough with a 22 ft. wide street, but at least they give you an indication of which side of the street is yours! Thank you on behalf of the Safety Committee to all of you for whatever you did to try and make Sunscape a safer place to reside in during our golden years or this past year. Be aware that the Sunscape Safety Committee will be meeting again regularly to try and make 2008 even safer! Thank you. Motion to accept Safety Committe Report made by Jim Grimes and seconded by Mary Sorenson. Motion passed.Medical Committee Report given by Mary Ann Fender. In case some of the Safety issues aren't observed we're here to pick up the pieces! We have had a good group participating at meetings, training sessions we have had, and we will have more. We have had a really good rate of CPR and First Aid participation and certification. I think after this weekend we will have 99 and 44/100% of the team will be certified, so that should give you some reassurance in the park. For those of you that are new in the park: we do have a defibrillator, we have suction, we have all these bandages, and splints. We don't want you to use them! We just have them there on the cart in case we need them. The firetruck is there. I'm kind of representing the whole response team, not just the medical because of the large overlap of the firemen and the medical. Our members are Richard Anderson, from Canada, a renter that volunteered this year and was very busy with us, Ron Anderson, Joyce Bingenheimer, Howard Caires, vice-chairman, Duane Fisher, Ron Frances, Bruce Garman, Bill and Pat Gernon, Bob and Isobel Gordon, C.H. Grubb, Dennis Harvey, Lou Hicks, Damon and Lorna Hillery, Sandy Kuroski, Betty Livingston, Dale Schoeneberger, Ron Stockall, Gene Wallace, liaison, who we will really miss, he has been so supportive for so many years, and Jim Mashek is also on our response team, and he is certified in CPR and First Aid. So during the summer now, you have a manager that is certified. When we are speeding, we are trying to get to a scene, so please realize why we are in a rush. Also, we have medical equipment that the residents are free to check out. We have wheel chairs, walkers, crutches, canes, shower chairs, whatever you need especially if you are having knee replacements, hip replacements, or are recovering from something where you need some assistance. We also have 3 ramps. If you need a ramp for any reason, we can drag one over to your place and set it up so you can get in and out easier if you need it. I just want to remind those involved, there will be a CPR class on Saturday at 8:30 a.m., and at 1 p.m. we will have a review for all the response teams just to practice the CPR and we'll have the defibrillator with us. So please show up for these things, and get more training in. C.H. Grubb, fire chief, thanked for checking fire extinguishers and smoke alarms and for having the fire truck at the ready! Loli Norman made motion to accept the Medical Committee report, seconded by Mary Lawler, motion passed.Special Committee Reports:Park Party Committee, Terry Kehler, lot 259, chairman. There's alot of confusion as to what we do with park party money, how it is spent, etc. The Park Party had about $30,000 sitting in the Park Improvement Account which it gets transferred to each year after the park party is over, and that you previously voted on a year ago to be used for the Welcome Center. As it was anticipated that the Welcome Center might need slightly more than that, perhaps not all that we made last year, but certainly more than $30,000., we threw in that vote this year that whatever additional monies were needed this year could go firstly to the Welcome Center. Again, the way it is set up in our rules and regulations, our bylaws in fact, is that when park party monies are expended, that we have to vote on it every year. So each year you are going to see that, if there is a project the Board feels is appropriate, that we move forward on it and recommend it to you. The Board has also given the park party chairs the request that we make recommendations to them as at least a starting point, in use of funds. Our recommendations don't necessarily get approved--it's just a recommendation, but we do it on an annual basis, and we did it last year for the money we raised last year. One of the recommendations that we will be making this year to the Board, and I'll mention it to you now for potentially next year's vote if the Board decides to do it, and that is that the Board have a figure, and we are going to throw out something like $2,000, that they can use throughout the year from park party monies for minor projects. The reason we suggest that is that rather than have to wait a whole year to get another vote for some minor little thing that a $2,000. bill or less would take care of, that they have that authority. I think that as a Board they have proven their ability to handle those and much larger sums very very appropriately. So we are going to make that recommendation that you consider for next year's vote that they have an annual sort of minor allotment, because we are making some serious money in the park party now, $15,500 last year, and, again, if they were able to spend $2000 of it, that would still leave the bulk of it for a bigger project down the road which you would vote on. Hopefully, everybody understands that a little better. Keep in mind that really what you are doing when you support your park party with your raffle ticket purchases, coming out to the events, the silent auction and the things you purchase there at probably 20 cents on the dollar--all those monies going into the park party basically reduce your assessments annually, because the money gets used for things you would have to spend it on otherwise. The Board was thanked for their cooperation with park party because we do have to go to them with a lot of different issues and authorities, etc. Also, Jim and Arlene do a terrific job for us every year, putting up with all of our needs, and Arlene, in particular, really does a lot of work for the park party. Chairs were introduced: Catherine Eaton, silent auction; Kay and Sonny Hankes, garage sale; Marilyn Fritch, raffle; Lenore Couture, bake sale, Vera Glaze, food; Mike Moore, sheriff, parking and security; Ron Stockall, cart races; Ray Edwards and Pudge Johnson, casino night; Ken Macomber, set up and take down, and our liaison with the Board. If you can join us park party week, we'd love to have you--it's the week of March 10th, and Tuesday, the 11th, is The Keepsakes' dance from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.--there's still a few tickets left. We've got I think 150 tickets we can sell, and now with the outside canopy they are putting up, we may be able to expand that if we need more tickets. Wednesday, the 12th, is the golf cart races--not sure where they will be; behind the park or over in the desert, but you will hear more on that later on. That evening is a casino night and you will be getting something on that in Monday's flyer. It will tell you all about casino night, and we hope you will come out and support that. On the Thursday is the main event that is the garage sale, the bake sale, the silent auction and the raffle. For the raffle, even if you win, your ticket goes back in, so you always have the amount of tickets in that you bought. We don't know what we will make this year. We set a goal of what we did last year, and a stretch goal of about 20% more than that. I am pleased to report that the pre-sale raffle tickets sales are basically up 20% so we are happy with that! Marilyn Fritch, raffle chair, then spoke. Marilyn Fritch, lot 355, along with my husband, Gary,--would like to give you just a few figures--last year coming in to the annual meeting, we had pre-sale tickets of $2,925. As of what we sold this morning, we now have $3,770. We want to thank you, each and every one, and a special thanks to the volunteers who came around and delivered the envelopes and tickets to each individual site. That was a great help. And, I want to thank Gary for helping me keep track of all those numbers. Terry Kehler thanked Marilyn for all her work and record keeeping. Each and every ticket is recorded. Then there were tickets drawn for prizes (food, Sunscape hats, and money). After record keeping, the winning tickets were put back in the box. Terry Kehler reminded everyone that when they go out in the community, to take along the little list we provide you with 2 or 3 times a year that tells who the people are that support our park as donors and sponsors and thank them. They seem to do a great job for us. We only hit them once a year, but some of the stuff they do for us is amazing. I sent a note to RV Traders a week ago and they quickly got back to me with another $500 bill! Gene Wallace thanked Terry for a wonderful job. Howard Caires made motion to accept the Park Party report. Bob Gordon seconded. Motion passed.Planning Committee, Norm Voelpel, chairman. The Planning Committee began a year ago and initiated reviews of a Strategic Planning Document prepared by Ron Anderson. Ron has been our key committee person and facilitated us through three member workshops last spring where approximately 100 members participated. The consensus of 93% of those responding to our survey questions indicated that we should continue the strategic planning process. This season, after a slow start, we initiated meetings with the Board President, Gene Wallace, and Vice-President, Hugh Warner. Hugh was named the liaison to our committee this season. As a result of our conversations, there was a Board decision to have a one-day workshop. That workshop was held January 23, 2008. The workshop included the current Board and all of the Board candidates. The intended outcome of the workshop is a Board of Directors with a common perspective of Sunscape issues, committed to working together using effective problem solving tools to lead the organization in accomplishing planned results. The consensus of the Board and the candidates was to utilize organization planning as a first step to implementing better business practices. They asked for continued support to facilitate another workshop to include the Board and Standing Committee chairs. That workshop is scheduled for Thursday, February 28, 2008. The focus of this workshop is to achieve a Board of Directors and Committees with a common perspective of Sunscape issues, committed to working together in a business-like manner using effective problem solving, delegation and management tools to accomplish planned organizational results. Many thanks should be given to Gene Wallace and Hugh Warner who have stepped up to lead this new direction and to Ron Anderson for his professional expertise in facilitating these workshops. Other Planning Committee members active this season are: Jim Cleveland, Keith Cornish, Billie Hering, Shirley Angel, Avril Cox and Joyce Bingenheimer, who we know is still recovering. Joyce has been very active in the park, as you can tell; she has been recognized before. Thank you all for your participation in Planning Committee activities this year. Motion to accept the Planning Committee report made by Don Angel, seconded by Ed Maresh. Motion passed.Ambassadors Committee, Sunny Stimmel, chair. For those of you that don't know, this started about three years ago and Ron Stockall was the chair and got the whole process running. He's gone on to greener pastures like the fire committee now. We welcome all new renters, be they on the Co-op lots or private lots. We give them a packet of information and give them a winter visitor card that they can carry with them in their wallet, identifying where they are staying at the present time. There's also current events and things like that just makes their stay maybe a little bit better. There's a map of the park and we try and go over all the detailed stuff, like where the laundry is, and all that kind of information for them. At the end of their stay we ask them to give a survey report back to us. That's what has not worked as well as we anticipated. As you well know, only about 33% of the time people will complete a survey report. At this time, we are into the fourth done, and I have 6 reports back. We have to find a better way of getting this back to the park to see what their concerns are, and, maybe, what improvements we can make. I'm going to ask you at this time, if you have a renter on your lot, tap them on the shoulder and tell them to not forget the survey report and see if we can do better on that part. We get our data from the Welcome Center and at this point, we probably made 60 visits which is comparable to last year. But, we find we are making revisits and we are trying to fine tune that with the Welcome Center and I know part of it had to do with something with the computer. We hope to refine that a little bit better. We don't have a Board liaison, but I want to thank Gene Wallace for answering some questions for me that visitors have already brought to our attention. We have nine people on the committee: Mary Ann Fender, Nancy Krey, Sherry and Ray Walker, Millie Schmitz, Carrie Higgerson, and Ethel Turner. I want to thank you very much. At this time I am making an open invitation to any of you to join our group. We are very apolitical. We just go out and have fun. So, if you are interested, we will welcome you. Please come see me at lot 447. One other issue I'd like to bring up to the Board is we are visiting new people. I wondered at some point if we could develop a process to welcome new owners. Have a wine and cheese or something to help them not struggle being new owners, but perhaps giving them the whole rules and regulations again, or something like that. I don't have any big ideas, but I thought perhaps that might help Sunscape move along in the right direction. Thank you. Gene Wallace said that "owner" idea was a good one, and he was sure this new Board would come up with some great ideas on it. Charlie Fender made motion to accept the Ambassadors Committe report. Mary Sorenson seconded. Motion passed.Audit Committee Report, Mary Anne Brunner. The Review Audit Committee asked me to give you a little up-date on their report of going over the books. The review team was Pat Olsen, Glenda Collins, and Doris Higgerson. Test accounts from all divisions were pulled and examined to make sure the proper documentation supported the entries made. Accounting procedures were reviewed. The team found that the books were being kept in accordance with generally accepted accounting practices; however, we have attached some recommendations that we strongly encourage the Board of Directors to consider so as to make verification more complete. We did determine that certain expenditures were made that do not comply with Article V, Section 2 of the By-Laws. Some of their recommendations we are taking under consideration, but we are waiting for new Board members to go over them. To give you an idea though of some of the good ideas they came up with: They suggested we get on-line banking, which would make it easier for the bookkeeper to keep track of things and transfers; do a 6-month or longer CD with our money now that our funds are high right now in the bank; and we need to do a little bit better documentation on our journal entries and adjustments so that later on when we go back to look at things, we don't have to scratch our heads too badly, and also, to appoint the review team early in March or April so that when they come back in the fall, they can start and review the first nine months, and then if any adjustments have to be made, we have time to do it, and then all they have to do is the last three months and it won't be such a hectic rush for them. I want to thank the ladies for the time and effort they put in. They didn't get it until December so they did a great job in a short time. We appreciate it. Don Angel said he could not find the Contingency Fund in the budget. Mary Anne said it is on the balance sheet every month. Gene Wallace said they would look into it. Mary Anne thanked Glenda Collins, Pat Olsen, and Doris Higgerson and there was a round of applause. Motion to accept Audit Committee Report was made by Bob Gordon and seconded by Gene Curry. Motion passed.Nancy Fassbender reported on the Sunscape play. Will be put on by the Sunscape players on the 17th and the 22nd of February. If you pay $5.00 today, you can attend the dress rehearsal this evening. The doors on all 3 dates of the play will be open at 6 p.m. We would like to have everybody seated so that we can continue at 7 p.m. with the play. The Community Center will be like a play theatre atmosphere--you will be ushered to your seats, and if you want to sit with your neighbor, please come with that neighbor because it is very difficult to sit everybody down and be ready for the play to start. There are lung and asthma issues in the park, and since you guys will be sitting as close as you are now, if there is any strong cologne or perfume, please leave it home so that way, we can all breathe. The Organ Stop Pizza outing is on February 18th at 9 a.m. Right now we have 243 people; last year was 338. Those who want to come, I still have tickets--they are $7. It's during the day. You will have an organ recital, as well as a visual tour of how the system that's in the ceiling plays. You'll have a pizza buffet, all you can eat. Many of you went last year and had a great time. Also, they gave me some tickets to give out--that's your $7--so we will have a drawing on that, too--save those red tickets! Thank you. Gene Wallace said we didn't need to vote on that report since it was informational.Gene Wallace announced that Charlie Fender sends out information of current happenings here in the park to the e-mail addresses he has. He also sends out e-mails from the manager, letting you know what's going on in the summer. If you are not receiving these messages, if you would please, contact Charlie at lot #26. If you change your e-mail address, please let him know by e-mail. Thank you, Charlie, we appreciate that! While I'm yakking away I want to thank everyone that voted for me, not once, but twice. I really appreciate it. These have been wonderful Boards that I have worked with, and I want to thank all you folks again. And, I want to thank my wife of almost 48 years for putting up with me, and all the time I was gone, which was a lot of hours, and it wasn't always the best mood, thanks Karlene. Thanks again, folks!Old Business:Update on Welcome Center - Sam Samler reported that the Welcome Center is coming along real well. Thanks, Jim, for all the mudding you did in there, appreciate it. The dry wall is up and has been sprayed, within the next week and a half or so the stucco will be on, we have to put the flooring in, and everything is coming along real well. I guess there's not a whole lot to report. There's one thing I want to say since I've got this microphone in my hand--I want to thank again those young ladies on that Audit Committee--I'm gonna tell you something--with their experience and the knowledge that those women have--it is just unbelievable, and thanks again, ladies. Jarolyn Macomber took the microphone to say we should all commend Ona Mae and Tom Hudson for the terrific job they do with the mail. Gene Wallace said he'd second that and there was a great round of applause. Gene then thanked the manager and all his staff, and said it's just impossible to thank everyone--that's what makes it such a great place! Damon Hillery of lot 380--I'm here with my good wife here of over 50 years, Lorna. I want to thank you for all your recycling. We are up to 94.37% of all recyclables. If you believe that, I've got a bridge I'll sell you. But, we are doing pretty well. We try to get a new trailer in as soon as we can. We're kind of at the whim of the trucks breaking down, and trailers not available. We're not going to run out of help--those are DUIs that come and help with the trailer, and we figure there's never a shortage of DUIs. Just wanted to thank you very much, and if you know of people that are not recycling, please give them a jab. I wanted to give you an update on the scrap metal and the aluminum, too. Last Friday Herb and I took in over 700 lbs. of crushed aluminum cans, and about 150 lbs. of scrap aluminum and brass and copper, which came to almost $600. which is for this year. So that's a good start. Thank you very much. Mary Lawler thanked Gene Curry for his work this year and last year. Don Angel put forth a question to save money on postage for filling a vacancy on the board, but Koleen Apger noted that it would be totally against the bylaws. Dick Emmel reported that one of the functions of the Computer Club is to provide some web pages for the park. Sunscape has two web pages--Sunscape RV Resort.com which is where all the ads are, and the other is the Sunscape RV Resort.info and that's the one myself and my wife maintain for the park all year long. We'd like to have information on that page that reflects what's going on in the park. There's an e-mail button you can press over in the left hand column on that page that will bring up your e-mail client and give you the opportunity to inform us of what you are doing in the park, if you have any pictures, photos--send that to us, if you are having meetings, if you take minutes, people like to have that, send that to us and we'll put it on the web page. Even though we're gone during the summer, we're still there in cyber space and you can contact us. If you need to know how to do that, the Computer Club has meetings and classes, and they'll be glad to show you how to send your photos, etc. Maggie Mitchell said someone reminded her of Jack Mitchell, who is everywhere, all the time, at every meeting. I'm just a very minor sidekick of his. I think Jack needs a good hand. Gene Wallace said Jack's out there and boy does he do a good job. Great round of applause. Howard Caires said everyone knows he chaired the Nomination Committee this year and he wanted to introduce his helpers, which he did. He said the old board is leaving and the new coming in. He said they worked with the 8 candidates and they were all good. You're gonna have a good board. He asked they give the old board a good hand, and a hand for the new.
