July Happenings

Hi Everyone,

Well, summer has very definitely settled in on us. The monsoon season started on July 2, and we are all feeling the affects of it. It has been 110+ every day, and the nights are 85+. The humidity is increasing, so we are HOT. Another dust storm went thru the park on Tuesday of this week, but no damage to property. We actually had a few rain drops hit the ground this morning. Not enough to do any good, but it does make us think maybe we might get some one day.

Our summer workamper has been working hard on getting the street markings painted, and on weed control. We have had several water leaks that had to be delt with, also, but all-in-all the park looks good. So far, the wind has been good to us. We have had very minor damage. Some awning trim has blown off, a few pieces of lattice have come loose, a few shingles are off, and some branches have come down, but it has all been quickly fixed. Dennis, Duane, and Bill (our summer workamper) have done an excellent job of seeing to everything.

The Clubhouse bathroom work has started. The large dumpster came into the park last week, and it is being filled even as we speak. There will be a lot of "destruction" before "construction" can begin, but it is started.

I have been corresponding with our new Activity Director, and I think you are going to like her ideas. She and her husband are coming to us with a fresh perspective on things, and they have a pocket full of new "stuff" for us to do. I am really looking forward to the fall, and not just because it will be cooler.

Have a wonderful summer, and we will see you soon.

Harriet

July 27, 2006 Update: HURRAY HURRAY We finally got some real rain. Wednesday night we got about a quarter inch, but today we are getting a lot more than that. The water is at least 6 inches deep in the streets, we are having thunder and lightening, and it is very dark outside, so it is absolutely a monsoon storm. The rain is coming down so hard it sounds like constant thunder. What a refreshing change!!!!! Everything will be fresh and clean again.
