Town Hall Meeting

February 2, 2010

First, a personal note: Remember these are just my notes about the meeting, they are not minutes.

From Manager Dale:

A word about the pictures: The photos posted all around the room are the aerial pictures that the surveyors took of our park. Take a look at them and see if you can find your lot (they will likely be posted until about noon today). Please just look try not to touch and please do not take or move the photos.

Ballots: Ballots must be turned in by February 8, 2010 so they can be counted and we can get the results at the Annual Meeting on February 15th.

Swimming Pool: The pool will reopen today, but if you give it a couple of days water will be totally clear and warm enough to enjoy. Our great crew has put in all new pipes, a new digital heater, new pumps, etc. The solar heater will now face south and be about 18 percent more efficient. Thanks guys, we really appreciate all your hard work.

An important word from your BOD: Leave the green pins that mark property lines alone. If a pin is moved or removed, you will have to pay the surveyors to reposition it (and this could be very costly).

Big Screen TV in Activity Building: We now have Direct TV installed. And this TV can be used by all. We have scheduled a big Super Bowl party there. This would be a great place to catch the Winter Olympics.

Trash (and recycling): Remember that cardboard needs to be flattened before putting into the recycle bins. If it is too hard for you to flatten your cardboard, please stack it neatly outside the bin and someone will flatten it for you. In December we received $79.86 for almost 2 tons of paper and $23.75 for almost 1 ton of plastic, etc. This is a really good start for our new system!

Report from JoAnn our Activity Director: There is a lot going on in our park this month and next month and I am not going to list all the activities here, but I will remind you all to take a good look at your Activity Sheet and make sure you get your tickets for all our special events (get your tickets on Thursday or Friday at our ticket booth). Remember, you can also check out Activities on line and you can now get the Activity Sheet emailed to you.

Park Party: Committee is working hard on this event. Our kick off Luau tickets are selling well. This is going to be a great party. And we have a new event this year – The Amazing Race.

Report from Vera: Lots going on in our kitchen, too. Don’t forget the Valentine’s Day Brunch, the Mardi Gras dinner, and the Board Appreciation dinner on February 28th.

Speed limits, stop signs and pet problems: We are getting better at obeying the rules and even at picking up after our pets. Keep up the good work and remember we will be reminded again next month.

Hand Sanitizers: We have several hand sanitizers installed around the park – Thanks Ron Stockall. See if you can find them all – there may be a test next month!

Sewer and Septic Tanks: Rich the sewer manager and the sewer owners spoke to us about how to use the system. Be very careful about what you flush (we do have trash cans) so we don’t hurt our system. Remember, if we don’t treat our waste systems right if will cost us more!
