[Notes from Billie Hering]
Before the meeting began: Bonnie showed us some of the pictures from our Fourth of July Pig Roast. Our pig weighed about 60 to 65 pounds and roasted for about 20 hours then served more than 60 people.
From Manager Dale:
Now about the other pig: Our Javelina continues to be a Sunscape attraction. Animal Control cannot help us rid ourselves of the pig’s company unless he becomes aggressive. So the last time Dale called he said the little fellow was aggressive. Animal Control will come out and tranquilized the pig and move it to a safer place, but we must be able to tell them about the pig’s routine – where he can be found and at what hours. So we are now trying to track his movements. If you see him, write down when you see him, where he was, and which direction he was headed and get the information to the Welcome Center.
Refuse and Recycling: Using the recycle bins earned the park $679.15 from February 20th to October 18th. We also took a load of metal to the recycle plant and received $249.00. Please put all trimmings, etc. that burn out in the burn pile and put other large items (and all cactus) into the large dumpster at the rear of the dump station. And, of course, continue to recycle to keep items that can be recycled out of our trash!
Dryer Lint: Please make sure dryers are free of lint both after you use them and then check before you use them. Lint buildup can cause a fire and your clothes will take longer to dry.
Drug Disposal: If you have any drugs you no longer use take them to the Welcome Center, Dale knows the correct way to dispose of them. Do not put any type of medicine down the drain! It kills the good bacteria in our septic and sewer disposal systems.
Eco Friendly Cleaning Supplies: Available at the Welcome Center at a very reasonable price. Mary Jane has used them on some of the bad stains around the park and she says they work really well. Stop by the Welcome Center and have a look at them.
No Parking: The no parking signs are posted at the north and south wall. You may leave you vehicle parked by the wall for a couple of days to unload. But long term parking is no longer allowed and your car or RV will be towed if left there for an extended period.
Ten Year Rule Revised: The manager will now approve or disapprove RVs wishing to stay long term in our park. He will look at appearance, age and condition. Private Lot owners please remember to have your renters in compliance with this rule.
Bingo: Curtis is doing a great job with this. He is offering a free game for anyone wearing a name tag.
Toys for Tots: Marines are now collecting toys for Christmas. Drop off your new, unwrapped toys at the box outside the Activity Office.
Dangerous Rocks: People are stumbling over small rocks in our roads. Please keep the rock in front of your lot swept up.
Emergency Numbers, Etc.: Lee Apgar told us the new pagers are here and working well. Dial 520-421-8808 and for a medical emergency put in your lot number followed by #, for fire emergency put your lot number then **#. Remember that if you think you may need an ambulance dial 911 and order one first!
Our Health Fair this year will be February 16th – remember to keep this date open.
Also, remember to check in at the Welcome Center and to make sure your emergency information is up to date.
Vera and the Kitchen: Breakfast is served Friday from 7:00am to 9:00am
Lunch is Thursday at 11:00am
Dinner is at 5:00pm on Monday
As always fresh hot rolls are available Saturday morning at 7:00am
We have a Cappuccino machine now and Vera will serve this great drink any time she is in the kitchen.
JoAnn – Activity Report: Make sure you check the big list of Activities that are already scheduled for this year. We need people to help set up Christmas decorations throughout the park on December 1st (and if you have lights or decorations to donate, bring then to Activity or Welcome Center).
Relay for Life – Alicia: this is a two day event and will be November 13th from 6:00pm until November 14th until 7:00pm. Come and support our teams and all cancer survivors (you don’t have to be there the whole time. Wednesday night proceeds from Jam will go to this and there is a banana split social on Sunday and also a bake sale coming up.
The park needs many new volunteers on committees and in lots of other places. Please consider volunteering for your park.
