Job Description and Employment Contract
Job Title: ACTIVITY DIRECTORPurpose of the position:
Under the supervision of the Park Manager, the Activity Director shall be responsible for providing and coordinating recreational, general leisure and informational activities for the Sunscape members and guests.General Functions and Responsibilities:
Evaluates the entertainment and recreational desires of members and guests on a continual basis and submits report of findings to the Manager.Recruits entertainers, government and health officials, educators, vendors, as well as using park resources and talents to provide entertainment at the Park. Provides tours, dinner theater, comedy club, casino, etc. Maintains database of these resources.
Develops and maintains a monthly activity schedule and a corresponding written budget; submits these to the Park Manager for approval prior to the beginning of the month. Unscheduled events must be approved 3 days prior to the activity. The need for the Activity Director to accompany or act as a tour guide will be designated by the Park Manager.
Schedules park facilities to meet the needs of the various groups. Conflicts will be resolved by the Park Manager. Generate and distribute a weekly activity schedule.
Attends activities (speakers, entertainers, etc.) and determines effectiveness. Reports how activities were received to the Manager and incorporates this information into the activity resource database.
Develops and implements booking process for entertainers, etc. Uses a form for bookings that requires the Activity Director's and Park Manager's signatures.
Meets regularly with the Activity Volunteers to coordinate activity ideas, events, budget, and how the volunteers can assist in the scheduled activities.
Acts as host/hostess to visiting entertainers, speakers, etc. introducing them to the audience and making sure their needs are met.
Attends the area activity meetings as the Sunscape Resort representative.
At the Town Hall Meeting, presents month's scheduled activities and gives brief review of the last month's activities.
Completes any other duties as assigned by the Park Manager.
Fiscal responsibilities:
Provides monthly report to the Manager of activities including attendance and revenue generated from each activity. Receipts shall be attached to the report.An end of the season, submits a written comprehensive report to the Manager. Items to be included are budget comparisons, activity database, suggestions for next season along with recommendations for the summer season and recommendations for the next season.
Requirements:
The Activity Director must have excellent organizational and scheduling skills. Must be self-starter, work with minimal supervision, be able to plan, develop and implement programs, and be able to operate computer word processing and database programs.The Activity Director must work well with members, guests, vendors, volunteers, etc. in order to have a successful season.
The Activity Director might have activities on major holidays (Labor Day, Canadian Thanksgiving Day, Veterans Day, U.S. Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Years Eve, Valentine's Day, Easter Sunday, etc.) and will be expected to organize and attend these activities.
Term of Employment:
Employment contract is for ____ months and will begin________________ and end April 15, 2010.
Salary for position is $1200.00 per month.
