Sunscape RV Park
Emergency Response Team

January 11, 2012
Minutes

The meeting was called to order by Lee Apger, Co-Chair. Roll-call was by sign-in, with members being asked to designate if CPR/AED and First Aid training was due this year.

The minutes of both the Nov/Dec Incident team members were approved as read. The December ERC minutes were approved as corrected (replace”clot formation” with “bleeding”, under the Review of calls).

At the January 10, 2012 BOD meeting, the consolidation of the old “Fire” team and Medical Committee was approved, with Co-Chairs Lee Apger (Medical Team) and Bruce Garman (Incident Response Team) also approved. Disposition of the antiquated fire truck and unneeded equipment was approved along with a subscription to Regional Fire Department (RFD) for professional fire/emergency response. This will give Sunscape year-round certified emergency fire and EMS response (in addition to County EMS response) , with team training in CPR/ AED, first aid, and incident response. RFD will also aid Sunscape by inspecting our facilities for code violations, provide snake and bee removal services, and lock-out services within an area close to Casa Grande and Eloy. There is a neighboring-agency response agreement with other area departments for assistance should RFD need additional help. Estimated response time from call to arrival for their rig(s) is 11-13 minutes. Lee and Bruce will coordinate with members to establish training dates and times.

Old Business:

Health Fair is canceled due to scheduling of the annual membership meeting for the same date. Vendors from last year's Fair have been notified , and the 2013 date has been reserved with the Activity Director. The BOD apologized and stated that they, too, will check the calendar prior to scheduling the meeting in the future. However, please sign-up for Bloodmobile donations.

CPR/AED training will be scheduled through RFD; Lee to contact.

Two call-outs were discussed.

New Business:

Neal Wehmer is the Interim Manager during the search for a new one. Regional advertising has been done.

Tri-Valley came out to inspect the Sunscape fire extinguishers. They also noted a deficiency in the new kitchen:

There is no auto -shut-off for the gas supply nor is there a fire-suppression system for the stove hood. (Checking on whether this is a code violation). Tri-Valley is also a source for residents to obtain a home extinguisher.

Bruce and Lee will set up a time for team members to go through the Park for the annual fire extinguisher and smoke alarm checks; we'll also have Vial-of-Life forms to distribute.

There was a follow-up discussion on the timetable for transition to RFD.

The BOD Liaison was asked who is responsible for selling the unneeded truck and equipment. There is no answer at this time.

Scheduling of drills, hydrant checks, and blue hydrant indicators (curbside) will be set by Bruce and Lee. A maintenance order for repair of the medical cart brakes and flashing light intermittent problem will be submitted to the Manager.

The Secretary will send out a current roster with this meeting's minutes.

The Secretary will schedule our pot-luck (ham, maybe turkey too). Committee members will bring the rest of the goodies.

[Each member and spouse/etc. to bring own table service and beverage.]

There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 0956.

Respectfully submitted,

Kolleen Apger, Secretary
