SUNSCAPE ESTATES RV COOPERATIVE
FINANCE COMMITTEE
REPORT TO THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
January 11, 2012
By now, all of you have received the proposed 2012 budget in your annual meeting packet. As I stated in past meetings, there were two major factors affecting the $150.00 increase in annual assessments. The first was outside fire protection which may cost an additional $20,000.00 per year but will result in increased protection for Sunscape. The other item was the waste water treatment system which potentially involves an increased cost of $80,000.00 or more per year. I understand that negotiations are underway with the owners of the sewer system and we are expecting that we will have some definite answers on this item in the near future.
We will soon be starting to work on the 2013 budget. Budget request forms are available. If you are in charge of a budget item and have not already received a request form, please contact me. We are requesting that the forms be returned to the committee no later than March 15th. There is a finance committee inbox at the Welcome Center for submittal of the completed forms.
We are in the process of reviewing our charter and are planning to revise it slightly. At that point, it will be presented to the Board for their approval. We are also starting to work on development of a procedural policy for the committee.
The committee did a brief review of the preliminary end of year figures. The December 31st report is not yet finalized but will be shortly. The committee is expressing concern to the Board regarding the fact that Sunscape still has an accounts receivable figure of approximately $3,400.00. which is primarily unpaid 2011 assessments.
The finance committee is pleased to announce that Mary Lawler has joined the committee, and that Pat Olsen has agreed to remain on the committee and serve as secretary. However, we are still looking for additional committee members, so if you have an interest in financial matters and would like to be involved in the financial planning for Sunscape, please get involved with the committee, or at least sit in on some of the meetings.
Respectfully submitted,
Jean Aili, Chair
