Medical Committee Meeting
December 5, 2007The Medical Committee met in the Conference Room at 9:00 am after a call to meet via the beepers.
Attending were: Ron Anderson, Howard Caires, Mary Ann Fender, Duane Fisher, Ron Francis, Pat Gernon, Isobel Gordon, Dennis Harvey, Lorna Hillery, Betty Livingston, Kay Hankes and Gene Wallace, Board liason. The response was very good and shows that we are carrying working beeper units.
The budget request for the medical needs was reviewed. The Medical Committee is assuming the budget role for the beeper costs.
One beeper was nonfunctioning and returned to Handy Page for exchange as well as requesting 2 more beepers for our use.
There is a new refrigerator in the Fire Station for use by our Response Team. Four cold packs are currently in the freezer and water bottles will be placed in the refrigerator portion for use during fires or training. The refrigerator was purchased with Medical Donation Funds.
Discussion of the use of the Scott Air Packs brought up standards that need to be addressed before anyone uses them. The Medical Team will need to assess the vital signs before and after a Fire Member uses the pack. Certification needs to be done to qualify a person to use this equipment plus the liability to the park was discussed. Howard Caires is going to check with his physician to see if he can qualify.
