SUNSCAPE RV RESORT

Medical Committee Meeting

April 2, 2008

The Medical Committee met in the Conference Room at 9:00 am.

Attending were: Joyce Bingenheimer, Howard Caires, Mary Ann Fender, Pat Gernon, Isobel Gordon, Dennis Harvey, Damon and Lorna Hillery, Betty Livingston, Ron Stockall and Neal Wehmer, Board Liaison.

The pagers have worked well in reminding members to come to meetings.

A review of the year’s medical calls was done. A total of 10 took place with an excellent response of members. We are working with the 911 Dispatch Department to expedite  notification to pagers. Test pages are in progress daily from Dispatch and will continue for the next 2 ½  weeks as their new dispatchers are trained. After that we will have bimonthly pages initiated by them as test messages.

After last month’s Board Workshop and the GH announcing that he had not been issued a pager, the committee discussed including clergy on our team. It was unanimously voted to keep it to medical responders only and we will summon a clergy if the victim or family request. Howard Caires and Ron Stockall will manage the pagers during the summer months. Pagers are to be turned in when leaving for the season. When members leave for 2 -3 months during the summer, they should notify the person handling the pagers to inactivate them while they are out of the area.

The medical supplies have been restocked on the cart. The cart was brought to the meeting and members familiarized themselves on what is available.

This coming season of 2008-2009 will be time for a majority of the team to recertify CPR and funding will be requested. Other training planned during the year will be First Aid skills and practice scenarios.

The 911 Communications Presentation on March 31st was discussed. It was agreed that the information given by the Pinal County 911 staff was critical to provide to all park residents and renters. A review of usage of 911, cell phone problems and how to best use the 911 system will be done. This will then be sent out to all members on the park’s Email list and to the mailboxes of the current residents still in the park. It was suggested that a write-up be done in the Activity Sheet and also in the Sunscaper when they resume.

It was also suggested that some form of this information be available to give to renters coming into the park as well.

This is the final meeting for this season. Meetings will resume in November 2008.

Respectfully submitted,

Mary Ann Fender, Medical Committee Chairman
